Course Outline

  • In this engaging virtual session, we will explore the concept of physiologic birth. We will examine its natural processes and patterns, both inside and outside the hospital setting.

Through approachable activities and engaging visuals, you will develop a deeper understanding of birth beyond the traditional "stages of labor" framework. This knowledge will empower you to navigate your own perspectives on medical interventions and pain management with greater confidence and clarity.

  • In this interactive, in-person session, you will be introduced to hands-on labor support techniques and advocacy skills for birth. Through embodied exercises, you will deepen your connection with yourself, your partner, and the group, fostering a supportive community as you prepare for this transformative life transition.

“The Caring in Color series was extremely helpful! I'm a first time mom who walked into the class overwhelmed and clueless about interventions, pain management, and generally what to expect. After finishing, I feel educated and empowered. Definitely recommend!”

More about this class

Most expecting parents feel a lot of feels when it comes to thinking about birth and welcoming a baby. Most of us are carrying a lot of fear and anxiety as we prepare for a big life transition, and that’s natural.

There’s also a lot of information being thrown at us without a lot of context and it can feel hard to know what to focus on (and when).

As an educator (and a person who’s been pregnant myself), I created this course to help you drown out some of the noise and focus on the most important aspects of childbirth and becoming a parent (regardless of what “type” of birth you want to have).

We will deepen our understanding of birth as a physiological process, demystify the hospital experience, understand our pain management options and connect with our advocacy and coping skills.

I aim to inspire you to start shifting your focus away from fear and towards understanding, confidence and agency instead!

Who is this class for?

This class welcomes all individuals and couples, regardless of their race, orientation, gender, size, age, etc.

I truly believe there is a space for everyone in the experience of childbirth - and I have wanted to create a class where all folks can feel at home.

If you're an open-minded individual or couple looking to feel more-grounded in a time of immense change, this space is for you!

The class was intentionally designed as a hybrid model (virtual and in-person) so you can get to know your peers and practice hands-on skills but also learn from the comfort of your home!

About the facilitator

I am a Certified Perinatal Doula, Childbirth Educator and creative, who is passionate about helping families navigate their reproductive journeys.

As a doula who works 1-on-1 with expectant parents, I understand that pregnancy and childbirth can mean very different things to all of us.

As a parent, I understand the uncertainty and questions that can come with pregnancy and preparing for birth and parenthood.

My aim is to expand the way we approach the topic of birth so you can better-understand (and navigate) this fascinating and powerful human process.

I hope to present tools which will resonate with you - so you can step into your next chapter with more clarity and confidence!
